One. Two. Three. Four...Walter Scott

timemagazine:TIME’s new cover: Black Lives Matter.

I am a person of colour
My race is probably the most hated race in history
Though we've managed to survive and thrive through hell
Through the good and the bad
We've marched several marches;
Been broken down multiple times though they've never fully succeed
He was a name of colour
A father of four and someone's fiancé
Baby, so when I tell you this story; think of no evil
He wore a green shirt and black tracks
He ran for his life when he was in danger, yet the 'government' disagreed
One. Two. Three. Four. Five
That's how many it took to take him down
People...some people have no concern for other's lives
When will he wake up to realize that we are not superior to you
We never were and never will be
I am a person of colour
If you keep killing us, we will not back down
We'll come back stronger, stronger than we were last summer
R.I.P M.B
R.I.P W.S
Life knows no tragedies
It's those living it that bring the darkness with them
One. Two. Three. Four. Five
He was a name of colour
Aged 50 with four kids
He was going to be someone's husband
His kids are going to be great, in fact, better than great
Know that there is no calm after the storm...not anymore
One. Two. Three. Four. Five
R.I.P Walter Scott
And once again, we continue the never-ending fight
Not because we want to but because we are forced to
Forced to defend our own because they won't defend us
You know...it used to be that a black person was killed every 24 hours
Now it's one every 8
Life knows no tragedies
It's those living it that bring the darkness with them
I believe that...I have to believe that
