Katy Perry's greatest hit yet? This song was a tear jerker for viewers. It showed what happens with true love if you give up. You'll regret it later on in life.
The One That Got Away was a single off Katy's third album Teenage Dream with had proven to be a hit within itself. With so many profound memories to trigger true teenager feelings, Katy Perry knew the way to our hearts. I literally brought the whole album the minute it hit iTunes because I thought it was the perfect album for my age group.
However, The One That Got Away was a different Katy than we knew possibly because the tone was much serious and hurt broken. It had a delicate touch that felt too fragile to be played because once it was played everyone would reminisce about the days they let the one get away. This song was more matured for Katy Perry because it was so sophisticated like herself and she knew what fitted her. She's well known for expressing her feelings through her music and the job she did on this one, should never be forgotten.
The music video was well structured. Starting with an elderly version of Perry living with her architecture husband but they have no spark because she still had regrets from her previous life. I adored the comparison of old Katy and younger Katy. It was something new and unseen. The whole video was perfect. Perfect for the song. Perfect itself. This has become one of my favourite songs. I love you Katy P! My favourite part of the song was the beginning. So here it is and I hope you adore it as much as I do.
"Summer after high school, when we first met/ We make out in your Mustang, to Radiohead,' Katy Perry reminisces on the opening of her latest, potentially record-breaking single. We've always known that she had a penchant for the alt-rock, but we wonder if KP's 18-year-old self ever thought she'd be substituting the sounds of Thom Yorke and co. for the sugar-coated melodies that have made her one of the best-known artists on the planet today? 'Used to steal our parents' liquor, and climb through the roof/ Talk about our future, like we had a clue,' she continues over a toe-tapping drum beat and delicate piano riff as she agonizes over the loss of her one true love. 'In another life, I would be your girl/ We'd keep all our promises/ Be us against the world"
