My New Kind Of Music

I'm a musician. I love my music. I listen to all types of music. I don't degrade music. Though I feel like some people do degrade music by placing them into groups and deciding what's good and what isn't. Well... that's not fair! You may not enjoy it but you'll find that somewhere else in the world, there's a person who loves listening to the music you've just considered "rubbish".

For the past few months, my music-obsessed friends have been insisting that I begin to listen to the rock and heavy metal music genre. As they perceive it to be "unmistakably epic". I have been listening to Jimi Hendrix etc. But they probably wanted me to listen to more, so they gave some a fair amount of artists to listen to and I did attend a rock concert back in February with a few friends which was my first concert. The turnout and performances were staggering. I had stepped out of my comfort zone and somehow entered a whole new world. Oh, I went to see Black Veil Brides by the way. It was during the Kerrang! Tour and we were the first stop. I was so thrilled! The supporting acts put on an excellent show.

In between the supporting acts, I was texting back and forth my friend since he was at the front meaning the view was better. We awarded the supporting acts in terms of who was better because we just about disagree on everything. At the end of the night, I got home and listened to more rock music. It was like I was being accepted into a whole other world. The rock world wasn't what I excepted it to be. It was better!

So with music, to feel right or like you belong; I suggest that you don't categorize genres because some have been here longer than others yet they go unappreciated. It's ok not to like a song or a genre but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't like it. To be an outstanding musician or being, you need to broaden your views on how you see the world. If you start seeing it in a completely different manner, then you'll realize that there's no need to  make anything less than the other.

I've already made plans to go see more concerts during the summer and I can't wait. But here's my favourite song from BVB and a song I'm currently learning by Steel Panther. Enjoy!
