Song by R&B artist Keri Hilson. She's extraordinary! The song was taken from her second album No Boys Allowed.
I've watched and listened to the song multiple times because behind the scenes lies the geniuses who know how to duplicate history. Bouncy r&b beats for the bouncy artist with a touch of the silky piano in the background.
Pretty Girl Rock is all about girls, women loving themselves for who they truly are. It's sick, funky yet sexy in the same way. The sweetness and the tough love mixed together to bring you some of music's biggest, independent and well-known female artists portrayed in the music video. My favourite thing about the song was that it was catchy, could be sand anywhere and was sung everywhere.
The music video was phenomenal! All women are played by Keri but in different eras. There were 10 different women for each era, some of them were Diana Ross, TLC, Janet Jackson, Supreme Josephine Baker and Dorothy Dandridge. These were some of the biggest influences to females artists today, they were feisty, determined and strong-headed. They knew what they wanted and they went for it. I think the whole concept of the video was for Keri to show the female generation has developed through time but if the end; the best version you can be is YOURSELF because there's no one like you than YOU.
Pretty Girl Rock was definitely a huge break for Keri Hilson as it was a 2012 anthem for all the ladies of the world. We are incredible if we wanted to be, we just gotta learn to stop shying away when the opportunity presents itself.
