Our Untold Wars

They tend to contradict us a lot simply based on how we act
Though our intentions aren't to disappoint them, but to please them
Some say that whatever we speak is lies and trouble
The way I see it, you can't judge if you haven't heard our side of the story
It might be our fault that we are the way we are
But we aren't entirely to blame, the ones that raised us should take some of the blame
Dressed in red vans, white shirt, and blue jeans
We are another world, so stop trying to fix us to fit us into yours
Every time we speak doesn't you mean you should cancel us out
When we say what we think or feel doesn't make us opinionated
When we get in trouble at school for incorrect uniform, back chatting to teachers
Doesn't make us troublemakers nor school rebels
We're just trying to live our lives in our own way, we don't mean to be insensitive
Though you think that the world's gotten easier as you've grown up
Doesn't imply that we are gonna agree with you
This is our generation, we see a lot of stuff every day
Stripped of our innocence at such a young and tender age
The children that you train from a younger age will grow up to become their own people
The pain, the sorrow, the grief, the joy and happiness
Will lead to whom they are meant to be in their final stage of life
To the broken hearted mentors
The job that you did was wonderful, you raised a great teen
What you forgot to see that we matured
You still think of us as your little ones, which is fine
However, you can't tell us that the world is easier because
For some of us, it's not, we see and we understand
You can't protect us from pain anymore, we've already endured it
For all those self-absorbed, wretched, secluded adults
You can't tell us that we don't know what war is because we do
Every teenager has their own personal war they go through every day
You may think we don't know a lot of things, but you're wrong
You see, you've undermined us for so long that from that we learned how the world worked
So whenever an adult tells you, you don't comprehend what they are saying;
Simply answer them back in a polite manner
"I may not be able to comprehend what you're saying but at least I've managed to survive my own war. Every time I got beat down. I got up. I never gave up no matter how much I wanted to. You weren't the only ones to have wars. We have one every day. And the tragic thing is that it's with our own selves. Can you comprehend what I'm saying?"
Dressed in black boots, ripped tights, white tee said "I hate people", ripped grey skinny jeans
We know we're misunderstood, we know we can survive the world
Because the wars we've fought and won were scarier than the world
The worst kind of war anyone could ever face is a war with themselves
