Happy Hippie Foundation

'Happy Hippie' is a nonprofitable organization founded by Miley Cyrus devoted to helping young people rally against injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth, and other vulnerable populations.

I came across the foundation in my history class when we were meant to be revising but were listening to music instead and the song we listened to was Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande  - Don't Dream It's Over

There are also several backyard sessions that Miley does with other musicians as a way to launch Happy Hippie, and they were simply impeccable! Here are some, if not, all of them:

50 Ways To Leave Your Leaver - Miley Cyrus

Different - Miley Cyrus & Joan Jett

No Freedom - Miley Cyrus

Happy Together - Miley Cyrus

Look What They've Done To My Song Ma - Miley Cyrus & Melanie Safka

Androgynous - Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett & Laura Jane Grace

True Trans Soul Rebel - Miley Cyrus & Laura Jane Grace

Yaw Baby (Break My Heart) - Melanie Safka

I Miss You Pablow - Miley Cyrus

I think that the world needs more people like Miley. She may not be the same Miley as the one you knew on Disney. She's the B E T T E R and much-improved version.

People that aren't so engrossed in their lives, and that they will one day put aside their selfish desires to assist another being in dire need.

Strange Meeting by Wilfred Owen

It seemed that out of battle I escaped
Down some profound dull tunnel, long since scooped
Through granites which titanic wars had groined.

Yet also there encumbered sleepers groaned,
Too fast in thought or death to be bestirred.
Then, as I probed them, one sprang up, and stared
With piteous recognition in fixed eyes,
Lifting distressful hands, as if to bless.
And by his smile, I knew that sullen hall,-
By his dead smile I knew we stood in Hell.

With a thousand fears that vision's face was grained;
Yet no blood reached there from the upper ground,
And no guns thumped, or down the flues made moan.
“Strange friend,” I said, “here is no cause to mourn.”
“None,” said that other, “save the undone years,
The hopelessness. Whatever hope is yours,
Was my life also; I went hunting wild
After the wildest beauty in the world,
Which lies not calm in eyes, or braided hair,
But mocks the steady running of the hour,
And if it grieves, grieves richlier than here.
For by my glee might many men have laughed,
And of my weeping something had been left,
Which must die now. I mean the truth untold,
The pity of war, the pity war distilled.
Now men will go content with what we spoiled.
Or, discontent, boil bloody, and be spilled.
They will be swift with swiftness of the tigress.
None will break ranks, though nations trek from progress.
Courage was mine, and I had mystery;
Wisdom was mine, and I had mastery:
To miss the march of this retreating world
Into vain citadels that are not walled.
Then, when much blood had clogged their chariot-wheels,
I would go up and wash them from sweet wells,
Even with truths that lie too deep for taint.
I would have poured my spirit without stint
But not through wounds; not on the cess of war.
Foreheads of men have bled where no wounds were.

“I am the enemy you killed, my friend.
I knew you in this dark: for so you frowned
Yesterday through me as you jabbed and killed.
I parried; but my hands were loath and cold.
Let us sleep now. . . .”

EMPIRE

I've been prolonging this review for a while. I don't know why because it's DEFINITELY way by overdue but here it is.

EMPIRE! If you haven't watched it yet...WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU WATCHED IT YET!?! It's been the show to talk about for the past few months! So I suggest you hurry your pretty self over to a laptop and start STREAMING! Hurry up!!

It's a Fox original, and we all know that Fox is good for its original shows, but most times they end up canceling them forgetting that they finished off on cliffhangers. Fix up, please?

Back to Empire... the cast features

Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon, a former drug dealer turned hip-hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment. He's haunted by past sins following his diagnosis of ALS  (King of the Empire)
Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, the outspoken ex-wife of Lucious Lyon and mother of his sons, who's just served a 17-year sentence for drug dealing. She's determined to bring her family back together and reclaim her half of the Empire Entertainment due to the fact that it was her arrest for running the drugs that financed Lucious' early career. (Queen of the Empire)
Trai Byers as Andre Lyon, the oldest of the Lyon family as well as being the CFO of the Empire company. He is Wharton-educated, power hungry and suffers from bipolar disorder. (center)
Jussie Smollett as Jamal Lyon, the 'black sheep' of the family due to the fact that he's gay. He's the middle son who's a talented singer-songwriter but is estranged from his homophobic father. He's considered Cookie's favourite and has a strong relationship with his younger brother, Hakeem.  (right)
Bryshere Y. Gray as Hakeem Lyon, the fame-obsessed youngest son of the Lyon family and Luscious' favourite. He has a strong relationship with his older brother, Jamal and often asks him for advice when it comes to music (left)
Grace Gealey as Anika Calhoun, head of Empire Entertainment A&R and Lucious' ex-fiancĂ©e. She and Cookie share a mutual dislike for each other, with Cookie giving her the satire nickname "Boo Boo Kitty"
Malik Yoba as Vernon Turner, the loyal and longtime friend of Lucious and business partner, and chairman of Empire
Kaitlin Doubleday as Rhonda Lyon, Andre's power hungry wife
Gabourey Sidibe as Becky Williams, executive assistant to Lucious at Empire
Ta'Rhonda Jones as Porsha Taylor, Cookie's assistant

The show also has some kick ass guest stars such as Estelle as Delphine, a musician Empire is trying to sign, Raven-SymonĂ© as Olivia Lyon, Jamal's ex-wife, Patti LaBelle, Juicy J, Gladys Knight, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige as Angie, a woman from Lucious' past, Cuba Gooding Jr. as Dwayne "Puma" Robinson, an old associate of Lucious and Cookie, Anthony Hamilton, Sway Calloway, Rita Ora and Charles Hamilton.

There so much talent within the cast, it's indescribable. The riveted plots, the music, and the writing are top notch. I don't believe that there are enough words to describe how incredible Empire is! Daniel Wiegand stated in The Seattle Times that "Almost nothing about Empire, created by Lee Daniels (The Butler), feels original, but after a few minutes, you will stop caring".

When it debuted on January 7, 2015, Empire proved that it was fated for greatness when it became Fox's highest debut show in 3 years. Everything from there was merely just another success. Moreover, the first season finale was also the highest rated debut season finale since May 2005 surpassing when Grey's Anatomy ended its first season.

Music...it's a MUST! I can not do it.

Firstly, it's crazy that a tv show can make better music than record companies. I applaud you Lee Daniels for your choice in choosing possibly one of this generation's greater producers, Timbaland. Unlike Fox's previous tv hits like Glee, the music in Empire is a lot more relatable as it focuses on the reality-based issues.

I'm freaking excited for season 2 as Ne-Yo is joining Timbaland, which we all know is gonna be INSANNNNE!

You're So Beautiful - Lyon Family edition

You guys NEED to watch Empire. You not only NEED to DIG the music, you gotta VIBE it like REALLY VIBE IT!

Soulsomeness

We are the soulsomeness of the soulless
Stripped of our freedom so quick that they can no longer look us in the eyes, so they shoot us in the back
The soul some to the voiceless
Screaming "we can't breathe" when they put us in a choke hold, so they tighten it leaving only mere snippets of our silenced voice to escape until we can be heard no more
Still overlooked for our colour because we are the only ones who know that this 'justice of department' is a piece of crap
They don't give bull that it was "140" fired at two of our people so they don't indict their people because they wore uniforms;  meaning their actions are justified...
We were once happy little hippies of the 60's
Lifting our hands up in fist form to support ourselves when no one else would
And now all we have left is a neverending decorated ghostly street
We raise our hands in Ferguson telling them "don't shoot", while we cry for Tamir and wear our "hoods" for Trayvon
You don't call for 'calmness' when you've got such inhumane acts happening in your nation
Can't you take a hint that we won't be oppressed any longer
That the safest place ain't the what it is if we are dying from "broken necks"
We too are just a people, we are not a paper people
We are a people, a black people to simplify
Though I breathe you, I breathe inside of you
Cause we were crafted from the same dust, and now they will never be all they set out to be
We were just a soulsomeness people
A people for the discouraged and batted peoples
To be taken on the "24/12" was too much, my moms spent it in sorrow
You know that I'd get a longer sentence for a lesser crime than what he got for 140
You can't "rule me as a homicide", "taser me 5 times" and "batter me to death in an abandoned lot"
You can't decline our peaceful protest
We were once the happy little hippies of the 60's doing the impossible without fear of the consequences
Our peoples were making history and we were the happiest of hippies than
I can't believe it's 2015 and we're still here protesting this shit
When you gonna get it...?
Not every negro that wears a hood or wears their pants below their knees is a suspect
You've gone from killing our boys, and now you killing our women too?
Rest In Peace Aiyana, Tanisha, Miriam, Darnisha and all our other black beauties
We are our sisters' keeper
We were once a soulsomeness people thinking we were in paradise
But we were wrong...
You see we used to fight to live, and now even when we don't fight, we still get killed
The word soulsomeness isn't even the word no more
We are not the happy little hippies of the 60's no more
It's the third world for BLACK POWER!

This is the NEW CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT and
THE REVOLUTION BELONGS TO THE YOUTH!

Dedicated to my soulsomeness brothers and sisters who were robbed of their short lived lives.

18 Lessons of Living By The Dalai Lama

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three Rs: 1. Respect for self 2. Respect for others 3. Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
