These are two of the greatest rappers in music history! I don't care what you say! Though if you intend to say otherwise, then you are a complete imbecile.
When Tupac and Biggie's lives were stolen from them, it suddenly felt like the world had been robbed of its treasure. A treasure that it appreciated, one that started from the ghetto and somehow manages to dominate the world that was once branded them as criminals.
Born Tupac Amaru Shakur on June 12, 1971, and died September 13, 1996. Tupac's music style was like no another, in his own way; Tupac was a poet. His lyrics spoke for those who were oppressed, it was the protest music that no one had ever thought of... With several sides to him, Tupac was one artist that wasn't afraid to write about his vulnerabilities.
Inspired by a wide range of distinguished writers such as Maya Angelou, William Shakespeare, Sun Tzu and Alice Walker. He proved to be a ravenous reader.
His debut album 2Pacalypse had revealed a sentient side of Pac. This still remains to be one of my favourite album of all time that landed a place onto my playlist. In his album, Pac struck poverty, injustice and police brutality in the songs, "Trapped and Brenda's Got a Baby".
If Tupac's songs were placed in front of me and I was asked to pick an anthem; I'd pick Keep Ya Head Up" probably because it was the fact that it was dedicated to a little girl who was robbed of her future around my age, Latasha Harlins. I feel like when Pac released this song, he also shows his kindhearted side as well as his renowned determination with the album title "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z". Freakin' awesome, right? What kind of artist would have titled their album with such a distinctive name?
Biggie was born Christopher George Latore Wallace on May 21, 1972, and died March 9, 1997. He spat deep, brisk lyrics which appeared to be deeper than Life After Death. Biggie was often escorted by Sean Combs aka Puffy Daddy or Diddy nowadays on some of his tracks. His style was muffled and cool.
He was blessed with the ability to pile several bars on top of each other with fast progression. I loved the fact that there was always "uh" in his songs because it showed that he was thinking or warming up to his next huge single. He was so good with words that he was able to arrange them in a way that works well for him. It was extraordinary how he was able to compose his songs his head rather than writing them down on paper. Jay-Z inherited a true gift!
Mo money Mo problems have got to be a favourite of mine from the Biggie collection. It basically describes the tough times the people go through when the earn mo money. Something that I thought was good but truly isn't. Biggie was one hell of a BIG POPPA!
Whilst Biggie was from the East-Coast, Pac from the West-Coast this show that they were rivalries. There will never be another Tupac Shakur or Christopher Wallace. But I believe otherwise, though I may not have known them; I don't think they had the hearts to hate each other. And because of that, I believe that 'There will never be another Tupac or Notorious B.I.G!'.
"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss of life is what dies inside while still alive. NEVER SURRENDER." Tupac
"Life is like a beautiful melody only the lyrics are messed up".Notorious B.I.G
"We can't change the world unless we change ourselves". Notorious B.I.G
"ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME". Tupac
The Rose that Grew from Concrete
Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk without having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
Tupac Shakur
