Still I Rise, 1928

I've learnt to simply flick death off my shoulders when I am sometimes consumed by it
Maya Angelou was the world's RENAISSANCE woman
She was our very own PHENOMENAL woman
It won't be her poems nor books that will secure her reputation, but the work that she's done whilst she was on this earth
To be associated with leaders such as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X is a tremendous thing
But to be associated with a woman like Maya Angelou is an honour in itself
When I was 12, I made a list of all the great people that I wanted to meet before my time was on earth was done because you never know when you'll be called home
Slowly but painfully I've hard to cross some of those names off and I've lost sight in the wonder in the world because
What's the world without people like these?
One of my favourite quotes by Maya Angelou is - you may encounter many defeats but you must not be defeated
It one of the sayings that I have lived by and has proven to be true
There's not much to say and not because I don't want but because I have the utter most respect for you and some people like don't need to be written about because your legacy speaks for itself
You were the first woman on my list that I desperately wanted to meet and Pac was next
Because of your tragic loss, I have also learnt a lesson in your loss; never put things that you want to do on hold
Life is the one thing that never goes back and it doesn't feel sorry you or wait for you to catch up with it
I've always known that and I still do and always will

And as we draw to a close, I kindly ask that you have found peace whenever you are because the true living starts once you sleep
The life now is merely a dream and you have reached the one we all long for
Thank you, phenomenal woman, for your perseverance, leadership and kindness

This is section from my favourite poem of Maya Angelou

"Out of the huts of history's shame

I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise

2009 - 2014

I'd like to say that the past 5 years have been truly challenging, intoxicating and truly astonishing. I could not have asked for better friends than the ones that I have made over these past years and although I was against the whole idea of attending an only girls' school in the beginning at first; I believe my mum made the best decision and I would have regretted not attending Sydenham School. So this is for the old and new friendships that I have managed to attain and develop.

We are destined for greatness because we have done the impossible together. We've managed to do so because of the love and faith we have in each other. So I hope that just because we finished secondary, doesn't mean that it's the end for us because we should always save time for each other to meet up and update each other on the new things that are happening for us because we've have been better that the years before because of the bond we have made with not only ourselves but our teachers as well.

We are the true feminists that will make a difference in the world. Well done to us. Sydenham School graduating class of 2014. We have not only made history at school but we've made history with ourselves and endless memories with each other. Don't drift apart please...

#BRINGOURGIRLSBACK

Appeal: Kim Kardashian shared details of the campaign, saying: 'Heartbreaking! Let's all raise awareness!'

The pressure is on and lets's keep it on. We need our girls back because they are our sisters though they might not be blood-related; they are also someone's daughters', nieces, cousins, and sister.

We offer our support in this horrific mission to bring them back to their loved ones because their perpetrators will get the justice they deserve.

I Believe That We As Females Have The Right  To Have An Education Without Living In Fear Of Being Taken Away. Because We Are Equal To The Male. However That Right Has Been Violated Therefore We Now Have The Right To Join Forces With The Other Females In The World To Get Our Girls Back.

#BringOurGirlsBack access to an education is a basic right. The reason to target innocent girls is seriously evil.

School System = Prison

They Say School Is For Your Own Good. What They Fail To See Is That Some Of The Greatest Minds In History Achieved Greatness Without Education.

"School=Depression. Learning+Creation = Happiness. Happiness=Art.Art=Intelligence. Intelligence=Rebellion. And Rebellion Is Bad For The System So They Put Us In School." Jaden Smith

So For All Those Adults Who Are Impressed Of Their Kids; Good For You. However For My Ma, I'm Sorry That I Do Not Have The Attitude You Wanted Me To Have Towards Education But I Just Think There Is Some Much That I Could Be Doing, Inventing or Discovering; But For You Ma, I'll Do My Best Because You Deserve It And You Want Better For Me.
