Justice For Trayvon Martin

I didn't know you though I've read about you
The way you left us was certainly unpleasant for all those that loved you and those that were about to if you were still here
I can't say that I knew the person that took you from us
Though I think that I'm allowed to speak my mind, so here it goes

Life sucks these days, people are too close-minded and full of hate
They've become so absent-minded that they'd rather assume than think
The day that you were left with us, was a devastating day
I bet you had a bright future ahead of you, head held high and goals set

Unfortunately, you won't be able to live to those goals that you had
I'm writing this because I'm a teenager like you were and still are in our hearts
No one can possibly imagine the pain that your family is going through because they knew you better than anyone
Your executioner was dismissed though I believe that his claims were a fool's one

I may not have known you but I've learned a lot about this world as I've watched your case
I know that can't all be convinced by change because there are others who'll disagree and discriminate
However, the way you left was, without doubt, the worst way to say goodbye
The result of  your case, I didn't agree with; because you were merely a child

Taking someone's life is unwarranted
Your predator was obviously a hater because his comment was too idiotic to be said by someone, who's protecting a community
It's not right to seize someone of their life because they are wearing a hoodie
We are a generation that's trying to flourish, the last thing we'd want is to repeat the past
But then again, I wonder if we are too late because it seems like
We are slowly creeping back in our ways for segregation.

Sleep tight Trayvon. See you soon. xx
