Wimbledon has been set alight for the last few weeks and Britain has been psyched to watch its own take up the court. People have had high expectations for Andy Murray and proudly enough he's always managed to get to those highly set yet doubted expectations.
Today Murray cheered as he scorched Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in straight sets. The Russian who's currently ranking 20th has proved that he has potential on the court but unfortunately he wasn't able to deliver today.
Andy's Britain's remaining hope as we watched his female companion 19-year-old Laura Robson sent home packing after been thrashed by 28-year-old Kaia Kanepi of Estonia. She was the first British woman to ever make it to the quarter-finals after Jo Durie in 1984, another historical moment put down in the drain. However we are still proud of her and the effort she put in, maybe next year she'll go all the way. Now some of you may think that it isn't fair that one player is way older than their opponent. What matters in sports are the skills that both players bring to the table, that's what determines their opponents and matches.
Several famous faces were spotted out at the match as they had come to show their support for Murray and it was certainly worth it. Wimbledon is such a tremendous sport in the calendar of the world that millions of people will sit outside just to hear the match. It doesn't matter whether you're watching or just hearing it as long as you've come to support your player.
The next important match for Britons is Andy Murray vs Fernando Verdasco of Spain who's currently ranking 54th. The match will take place on the 3rd of July 2013. So put it in your diaries people and get ready to watch!
Serena Williams' exit devastated me too much!
